Description A ema (Rhea americana), também é chamada nandu ou nhandu. Seu habitat se restringe à América do Sul. Apesar de possuir grandes asas, não voa. Usa as asas para se equilibrar e mudar de direção na corrida. Tem a peculiaridade de serem os indivíduos masculinos os responsáveis pela incubação e o cuidado com os filhotes.O macho distingue-se por ter a base do pescoço, parte do peito e parte anterior do dorso negros. Ao fundo um ovo de ema. Existem três sub-espécies. Zoológico de Catanduva.
