[edit]

English: A drilling rig at Cwt-y-Bugail Quarrying today is highly mechanised. In the nineteenth century the chambers now exposed by untopping were created by quarrymen who bore blasting holes in the rock face with a long weighted iron rod, called a 'jympar', by the light of a single candle.
