336 A DIGEST OF METABOLISM EXPERIMENTS. Nos. 2746-2750. See Nos. 2455-2514, Table 28. Nos. 2751-2762 were made by Seegeii in the laboratory of the Physiological Insti-tute in Vienna in 1861-1863. The object was to investigate the influence of sodiumsulphate on metabolism. The subject was a dog. Twelve tests were made, of from7 to 30 days duration. The food consisted of meat and fat. In 8 tests sodium sul-phate was given. The nitrogen in the urine was at first determined by the Liebigtitration method and later by the soda-lime method. The nitrogen in the meatused was calculated, using Voits figure. The nitrogen in the feces was determinedby the soda-lime method. The urine was usually collected directly, and any whichwas deposited in the cage in which the dog was confined was collected in a dishplaced under an opening in the floor. The following conclusions were drawn: AVhen sodium sulphate was consumed, theassimilation of the food was not affected. The feces contained the same amountof
