English: A DECREE ISSUED BY SHAH SULTAN HUSAYN
SAFAVID IRAN, DATED DHU'L-HIJJAH AH 1111/MAY-JUNE 1700 AD Decree issued by the Safavid Shah Sultan Husayn to set a slave girl, named Khosh Manzar, free, Persian manuscript on cream paper, 6ll. of flowing black riqa', some words in gold, three gold droplets marking the end of each phrase, pasted separate panel of paper with ownership inscriptions and seal marks, mounted in green and pink border on blue album page Folio 13¾ x 8¼in. (34.5 x 21.2cm.); text 5 7/8 x 4¼in. (15 x 10.8cm.) The decree contains the king's seal impression and a note in his own hand to the right of the seal. The note on the left is the legalization by the theologian of the time Jamal al-Din Muhammad al-Khwansari with his seal impression. |
