Description |
English: A copper alloy scabbard chape dating to the thirteenth or fourteenth century AD. The chape comprises a copper alloy plate folded to form a cone. At the base of the chape, the plate has been cut in a cross, to help fold in the metal. There are four perforations at the attachment end. The upper surface of the chape is decorated with an engraved motif of lozenges. The chape has a length of 27mm, a width of 18mm at the attachment end and a width of 13mm at the base. |
