Title
A copper-alloy, post-Medieval, quartefoil mount with three integral rivet spikes on the back.
Description
English: A copper-alloy, post-Medieval, quartefoil mount with three integral rivet spikes on the back. The mount is an openwork cross fleuret in shape with a centeral lozenge. There is a diamond shape in the middle from which the incised cross radiates from each of its 4 points. The four foils are shaped ike petals with the centre of them removed in a trefoil petal shape. The front is dark grey in colour with bits of corrosion. The back is flat and plain. Two outer spikes project outwards from the reverse protruding from each end of the central bar. A third central spike is placed between these and is bent at 90 degrees. The mount is slightly bent in the middle.

The mounts is 36.4mm by 35mm, with a thickness of 2.2mm and weighs 10.83 grams.

Read (2001) illustrates a very similar example (p.34, no.275) which he dates to c.1600-1700 AD. See also SOM-63F1D0 on this database.
