locarpine.Muriate of Pilocarpine. This is the hydrochlorate of the alkaloid of jaborandi. Must bekept in small vials with well-fitting glass stoppers. Description and Tests.—See the Pharmacopoeia, pages 250 and251. . Impure pilocarpine has an offensive odor, and is more or less dark col-ored. The pharmacopceial preparation must be white and odorless. Medicinal Uses.—Same as of pilocarpus. Dose.—0.01 gram (^- grain) hypodermically. Pilocarpus; 17. S. Pilocarpus. Pilocarpi Folia—Jaborandi. Origin.—Pilocarpuspinnatifolius, Lemaire (Rutacem).Habitat.—Brazil.Part used.—The leaflets. Description.—See the Pharmacopoeia, page 251.
