Title
A cast copper alloy small axe of Early Bronze Age date.
Description
English: A cast copper alloy small axe of Early Bronze Age date. It is of narrow butted form with slight low flanges to either side. The relatively straight sided body broadens to the blade, which is 3.41mm thick. There an indication of the beginings of a stop ridge. The surfaces are all severely affected by invasive corrosion with marked pitting. The butt is slightly chipped. A medium brown patina is visible on many of the surfaces invaded by the dark green corrosive products that are visible on all surfaces.

It is 81.52mm in length, 32.50mm wide and 9.36mm thick. It weighs 10.42g.

This 'low flanged' axe is in the Arreton tradition of the later Early Bronze Age, dating to c.1700-1400 BC.
