Title
A cast copper alloy equal armed brooch
Description
English: A cast copper-alloy ansate brooch. This type of brooch is middle Anglo-Saxon, and dates to the 8th or 9th century. The brooch has an arched back with an equally sized fan-shaped terminal on either end. The terminals are made up of 3 raised ridges which continue up the brooch to meet in the middle, at the bend. The catchplate and a pin mechanism still remain although the pin is missing and there is a lot of corrosion around the mechanism.
