Description
English: A cast copper alloy buckle with pin still attached (length: 26.3mm; width: 18.8mm; thickness: 7.8mm; weight: 7.97g). This pointed D-shaped buckle has a complete copper alloy pin still encircling the opposite end before continuing along the artefact's length to the pointed end where a deep notch is visible to hold the pin in place. The buckle is plain and undecorated. The buckle frame on upper side is slightly rounded-sectioned in appearance, while the underside is muich flatter. The artefact is in a slightly worn but fair condition with a dark green/ brown patina.

No identical examples have been found, but a similar example is illustrated in Ross Whitehead's 'Buckles 1250-1800', 1996, page 18, ref no 44, and has been dated between 1250-1500 AD.
