Title
A cast copper alloy buckle
Description
English: A copper alloy buckle plate, dating to the seventeenth century. The buckle plate consists of two trapezoidal loops with a central hemispherical section bar - the central bar has iron corrosion adhering to it; one of the outer edges has two oval end knops and a triangular notched pin rest; the other outer edge finishes with two large circular knops on the end of winged extensions; between the winged extensions are a series of rounded mouldings. The buckle plate is 29mm in length. The wider outer edge measures 42mm in width, with the narrower measuring 25mm in width. The buckle plate is not flat, but rather has been bent into a slight V shape, with the central bar as the point of the V. The buckle plate is similar to No 526, 527 and 528 in Whitehead, 2003, 84.
