A cast copper alloy Roman brooch
Description
English: An incomplete cast copper alloy Roman Langotn Down type brooch. The wings, which are broken, are concave to house the spring, now missing. The head angles at approximately 90 degree angle to bow. The bow is subrectangular in plan, tapering towards the foot, and subrectangular in section, with both faces being slighly convex. There is a central flute running the length of bow. The bow is broken, subsequently the foot and catchplate are missing. It is in good condition and dark green in colour. It measures 22.82 mm L x 15.61 mm W x 8.76 mm TH and weighs 2.36 g. Similar to Hattatt 771.
