A cast copper alloy Roman Colchester type brooch
Description
English: An incomplete cast copper alloy Roman brooch, of the Colchester type, dating to the first century AD. It is has semi-cylindrical wings, in which rest the springs. On top of the head is a fragmented integral loop or hook, which bends back towards the bow before it breaks. The head is set at a sharp angle to the curved bow. The catchplate has openwork, in a rounded T shape. The pin is missing. It measures 56.7 mm L x 5.2 mm W and weighs 4.85 g.
