Title |
A cast copper-alloy single loop oval buckle & plate front |
||
Description |
English: A cast copper-alloy single loop oval buckle with decorative plate. The oval buckle has chamfered edges with a lobed knop either end of the strap bar and also on the outer edge. The plate, which measures 44mm x 17mm wide, has a punched double line border decoration around the edge. The outer edge of the plate has experiences some nibbled loss in its time. The plate is doubled over and secured with 4 bronze rivets (there is a fifth hole in the centre of the front plate whichdoes not go through the back plate). It is missing most of the pin which appears to have come off in antiquity.
Both the strap bar and buckle plate have a good bronze patina. |
