A cast copper-alloy casket fitting dating to the Medieval period
Description
English: A cast copper-alloy casket fitting dating to the Medieval period. The mount is incomplete. It is rectangular in plan with a decorated body and terminal. The body has a bevelled upper face so that it is trapezoidal in section with a raised square with cross hatched incised decoration on its surface. The body is separated from the terminal by a rectangular collar. The terminal is an elongated semi-circular tab with a drop shaped knop emerging from its end. The centre of the terminal had a circular perforation. The opposite end of the mount has traces of a break and circular perforation.
