Description
English: A base sherd from a Roman colour coated fine ware vessel, dating to the 2nd-4th century, AD 150-400. The sherd consists of the foot ring base probably from a 'hunt cup' beaker. It may have possible been trimmed for use as a gaming counter. The sherd has a black slip coating on both the exterior and interior, similar to that used in Nene Valley and Rhine Valley (Cologne) pottery industries. The interior surface is undecorated but has regular striations from the wheel turning process. The fragment has white fabric.
