A back view of a lead spindle whorl, possibly dating to the Roman period.
Description
English: A complete cast lead spindle whorl, possibly dating to the Roman period (diameter: 33mm; thickness: 8mm; weight: 40.36g). This conical artefact slopes upwards to a raised rim (diameter: 18mm) surrounding the slightly off-centre circular straight-sided hole (diameter: 9mm). There is no decoration on the spindle whorl and the underside is flat. The artefact is in a slightly worn but fair condition.
