Near Tangyueh, lived two brothers who kepta medicine shop. On the Dragon Mountain theycollected hwang lien, a bitter herb or root, to makea cooling medicine. The elder brother stayed at home,while the younger went up the mountain to gatherhwang lien. Now, the two dragons were playingwith the pearl, and one of them, a little bit careless,dropped the pearl, which rolled down the mountainand caught in a small ravine where the brother wasgathering the precious hwang lien. He picked it upand took it home. Its brilliancy so filled the wholehouse that he could not hide the treasure. So he duga hole in the ground outside, two feet deep, and buriedit, thinking that none of the village folk would knowabout it. Meanwhile, the elder brother who had beenout to tiffin, returned and found to his astonishmentthe whole house full of light, though no lamps h
