English: A Soldier Opens a Shop- Trooper William Vaughan Opens a Book Shop on Tottenham Court Road, London, England, UK, 1945 William Vaughan shakes hands with a Ministry of Labour official on the doorstep of the Employment Exchange, following an interview to decide if Mr Vaughan can open a book shop in Tottenham Court Road. According to the original caption, the "Ministry of Labour have to decide whether the work Vaughan wishes to take up will be more useful to the national effort than the work he is already doing. They decide in his favour and wish him best of luck in his new venture". |
