Description
English: Category C – Best Single Photograph Depicting the RAF Operational Experience - Sponsored by Nikon UK.

1st SAC David Turnbull JADTEU, RAF Brize Norton

A Merlin helicopter comes in to drop off a Remover 3.1 mast during a snowy morning whilst on a helicopter flight trial in December 2010 at JADTEU, RAF Brize Norton. Various pieces of new equipment are flown by helicopters as underslung loads, to see how they react during flight, and notes are made of the tolerances of speed and degrees of bank whilst in flight. These can then be cleared for use in an operational environment. Darkroom techniques only, have been applied to this image.
