Title
A Roman tear drop button and loop fastener
Description
English: A complete button and loop fastener of Wild Class III (Wild 1970, 138-9) dating to the late first century or the second century AD. The main part of the button and loop fastener is a tear-drop shaped plate with a central raised circle with a groove running around its circumference. The back of this plate is flat and undecorated. From the wider end a shaft projects and then bends at a 90 degree angle to create a triangular attachment on the same plane as the plate.
