a Roman spindle whorl
Description
English: A cast, lead alloy spindle whorl of uncertain date, but possibly late Roman or early medieval, dating from 400-600AD. Both faces are flat and undecorated. The whorl is 29.3mm in diameter and 8.1mm thick. It weighs 28.43gm. The central perforation is 11mm in diameter.
