Title
A Roman dolphin type brooch
Description
English: A complete, cast copper alloy Roman brooch of the Dolphin type dating from 55 - 100 AD. The bow is undecorated and is separated from the small, semi-circular foot by a single transverse groove. The tubular wings are also undecorated except for a single, transverse groove at the outer end of each wing. The copper alloy pin bar and hinged pin remain in place, as does the catch plate. The brooch has a dark brown patina. It is 38mm long, 23.8mm wide and 15.7mm thick. It weighs 9.13gm.
