A Roman copper alloy toilet article: nail cleaner (AD43-410).
Description
English: A Roman copper alloy nail cleaner (AD43-410). The blade has rounded shoulders and the bi-furcated end is broken and missing. The suspension loop is set at 90º to the blade and the top of the loop and upper end of the nail cleaner is broken and missing. The length between the suspension loop and the blade is decorated with parallel transverse ridges. The front of the blade is decorated with a pattern entirely composed from the same crescentic stamp; the stamp has been used down the midline to create an S-shaped motif and it is used around the edge with all the crescents facing outwards. The stamps are also repeated on the front of the suspension loop. Dimensions: length: 42.76mm; width: 10.39mm; thickness: 2.68mm; weight: 3.51g.
