Description

A remarkable bird that transforms from a completely white bird to this dark red plumage. This is a migrant from Northern Europe / Russia to India during winters. The bird lays its eggs during the May to Jun/Jul period and during that time completely transforms to a different plumage. And then it flies off to the home base for laying the eggs and setting up nests. This is just like the Black Tailed Godwit which reach the breeding plumage in India, but nest in Europe.

They are usually found near small shallow water bodies where they feed on small invertebrates, larvae and flying insects.
