SIGNED FAYZULLAH, AFGHANISTAN, DATED 21 RAJAB AH 1167/14 MAY 1754 AD Arabic manuscript on paper, 347ff. plus four fly-leaves, each folio with 13ll. of elegant naskh within thick gold ruled margins, gold rounded verse and juz' markers, sura headings in white naskh on gold ground, two large initial gold and polychrome shamsa outlined by scrolling vines, the opening two, middle and final bifolios with gold and polychrome illuminated scrolling floral margins with text written in white clouds on gold ground, colophon dated 1167 stating that it was done in the seventh year of the reign of sultan al-adhm Ahmad Shah, signed Fadl-allah, in contemporary lacquer binding with floral design, minor water damage to margins Text panel 6½ x 3 5/8in.
