Title
A Post Medieval Buckle
Description
English: An incomplete iron buckle dating to the Medieval to Post-Medieval period (c.AD 1350 - 1750). The buckle is a single loop that is sub-square in plan with a sub-rectangular cross section. There is a flattened, sub-rectangular probable pin rest along one length of the frame. The pin is now missing. No decoration can be determined. The buckle is a red brown colour and heavily corroded.

A comparable example recorded on the PAS database is OXON-0B54D1, where it is stated that iron buckles such as this are likely part of a horse harness fittings.

The dimensions are as follows: 46mm in length and 39mm in width.
