Title
A Post Medieva to Modernl Lid
Description
English: A complete lead lid from an unknown object with a probable late Post Medeival to Modern date (c. AD 1700-1900). The lid is circular in shape with a cylindrical handle projecting from the centre. The edge of the lid is slightly raised on the front but has a more pronounced ridge to the reverse. The lid is inscribed on both the front and reverse and the entire object looks to be handmade. The inscription on the front has been incised across three lines both above and below the handle; it reads E.G (above the handle) / HBW / I. On the reverse the inscription reads WILWEWIEx and has been incised in a circle around the entirety of the circumference with the start and finish of the inscription apparently identified from the small 'x'. There is also a small hole in the centre of the reverse. The object is light grey in colour with a number of both light and deep scratches across the majority of the front and reverse.

The overall dimensions are as follows: 70.12mm in diameter, 17.42mm in thickness and 152.7g in weight.
