Title
A Neolithic Leaf Arrowhead
Description
English: A complete leaf arrowhead dating to the Neolithic period (c. 4000 - 2200 BC). The arrowhead is lentoid-shaped formed on a light brownish-grey coloured secondary flint flake. The ventral face shows clear percussion waves; the bulb of percussion has been removed by scaled, semi-abrupt retouch to form the arrow point. The dorsal face has two prominent ridges and shows signs of retouch along the left hand edge. Patches of cortex are apparent across the right hand side of the dorsal face. The retouch on the dorsal face is short and abrupt at the proximal to medial end. From the medial to distal end the retouch becomes longer, scaled and semi-abrupt. The retouch on the ventral face is scaled and semi-abrupt along both edges. A notch has been been formed through knapping at the proximal end, and would likely have been used for hafting.

The overall dimensions are as follows: 34.47mm in length, 13.99mm in width, 5.55mm in thickness and 1.78g in weight.
