A Medieval harness fitting
Description
English: An incomplete copper alloy harness fitting dating to the Medieval period (c.AD 1200 - 1400). The fitting comprises an oval suspension mount and the remains of the pendant. The mount has rivets in situ at the upper and lower edges of the loop, and a forked looped hinge to the lower edge. An axis bar is retained within the hinge around which a separate pendant is fitted by a circular suspension loop. The pendant loop extends into a partial loop. Traces of gilding remain on both the mount only.

A similar example has been recorded on the PAS database, seerecord number YORYM-26AC12.

The overall dimensions are as follows: 30.37mm in length, 9.03mm in width, 7.77mm in thickness and 2.12g in weight.
