A Medieval double-looped buckle |

Description |
English: An incomplete Medieval buckle. Its broken copper alloy frame is sub-rectangular with rounded corners and a narrow strap bar. One end of the buckle is missing. Opposite the strap bar there appears to be a a central notch. The pin is missing. The upper surface has a degree of patterning and the underside is flat. The surface of the frame has a mid brown and green patina.
It measures 16 mm wide long, 18 mm high and weighs 3 g. Whitehead illustrates a similar buckle, No.143 and dates it to c. 1350-1450. |
