A Medieval Vessel Fragment
Description
English: A fragment of a copper alloy vessel dating to the Medieval to Post Medieval period (c. AD 1200-1700). The fragment is triangular in shape and is part of the rim of the vessel. The exterior surface has a shallow lip at the rim. The curvature at the rim suggests a wide vessel. The rim edge is uneven through wear and the surface of the fragment is covered in pits and scratches. The object has a dark green patina.

Cast copper alloy vessels were in common usage c. AD 1200 - 1700 AD, becoming superseded in the 18th century by cast iron vessels.

The overall dimensions are as follows: 26.92mm in length, 31.23mm in width, 5.71mm in thickness and 17.68g in weight.
