Title
A Medieval Mount (reverse)
Description
English: A copper alloy mount probably of Medieval or Post Medieval date (c. AD 1400 to 1700). The object is circular in plan and convex in form with a round knop on the apex. There is also a flattened border around the edge of the mount. The object has a concave reverse which is undecorated, however there is some ferrous corrosion suggesting that it may have been from the means of attaching the mount to a larger object. Similar examples have been recorded on the PAS database, including record numbers DUR-5ECCF8; SUSS-A4FD14; and LANCUM-64D34F. The latter two examples have suggested the mount could be part of a horse harness fitting.

The overall dimensions are as follows: 17mm in diameter, 5mm in thickness and 1.57g in weight.
