Title
A Medieval Mount (front)
Description
English: An incomplete copper alloy mount dating to the Medieval period (c. AD 1150 - 1400). The mount is square in shape with two rivet holes apparent in the top and bottom right hand corners. The bottom hole shows a break in the right hand edge. The top right hand corner is partially bent over the face of the mount. The decoration on the front of the mount is of a crowned lion passant guardant which would have once been surrounded by enamel. The remaining decoration is well worn. The reverse of the mount is undecorated.
