A Medieval Annular Brooch (front)
Description
English: An incomplete copper alloy annular brooch dating to the Medieval period (c. AD 1200-1400). The brooch is oval in plan with a large, empty, circular collet at one narrow end and two smaller, empty, circular collets together at the opposite end. Extending from the two empty collets is a rounded knop. The pin is no longer attached though the constriction for the pin is still apparent in the frame between the two sets of collets. The rounded frame is decorated with a series of incised ribs radiating outwards. The reverse of the brooch is flat and undecorated. Similar examples recorded on the PAS database include: WILT-EACB2C and SF-B01A05.

The overall dimensions are as follows: 24mm in length, 16mm in width,4mm in thickness annd 2.41g in weight.
