Description |
English: A Medieval copper alloy thimble probably dating 1350-1400 AD. The thimble is 18.6mm tall with a base diameter is 19.2mm. The sides are 1.8mm and it weighs 8.1g. The rim is thin and straight with no thickening. The sides are covered with regularly spaced round indentations. The top is a low dome and covered with a spiral of round indentations with no bare patches. In the centre of the dome there is a circular hole, 1mm in diameter. A very similar example can be see in Egan (1998) number 824 (pages 267). |
