This type of tapestry, known as a "portière", was commissioned by the great families, in several panels, bearing their coat of arms and intended to be placed in their state rooms.

This tapestry is particularly interesting because it bears the coat of arms of the La Béraudière family and comes from the sale of the Collection du Comte de la Béraudière, which was dispersed from 18 to 30 May 1885

Ce genre de tapisseries, appelées "portières", étaient réalisées sur demande par de grandes familles. Elles se composaient de plusieurs panneaux affichant leurs armoiries et étaient destinées à être placées dans les salles d’apparats.

Celle-ci est particulièrement intéressante car elle arbore les emblèmes de la famille La Béraudière. Elle provient de la vente de la Collection du Comte de la Béraudière, qui a eu lieu du 18 au 30 mai 1885
