[edit]DescriptionA Little Planet of Telescopes in Cerro Tololo (CTIO 20230414 PROMPT LittlePlanet DMunizaga-001-CC).jpg |
English: Little Planet panorama of the Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory (CTIO). At the top of this 'little planet' are the telescopes that make up PROMPT (Panchromatic Robotic Optical Monitoring and Polarimetry Telescopes). Built by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, PROMPT consists of several 0.41-meter robotic telescopes. One of its main goals is to observe the afterglows of gamma-ray bursts, the brightest and most energetic events in the Universe. Protruding at the right side of this 'little planet' is the T80-South Telescope while the cargo container to the left houses the controls for CTIO GONG. |
