Title
A Late Iron Age to Roman rosette-style brooch
Description
English: An incomplete copper alloy Rosette-style brooch dating to the Late Iron Age to Roman period (c. AD 20-100). The brooch consists of two short tubular wings with the remains of a hinged pin in the recess. In the middle of the head at the top is a U-shaped projection. The bow then tapers and curves up from the head and at the apex of the curve widens into a rounded plate with a central hole and two concentric circles around this. The east and west points of the circle taper outwards slightly to flattened ends. The bow then curves downwards tapering from the circular plate to form a slight waist before it fans out at the foot. The foot has a slight depression on the outward face. The remains of the catch plate are apparent at the reverse of the brooch. The pin in no longer attached.
