Summary
[edit]DescriptionA Kestrel Fledgling Mantling! (14339757180).jpg |
The adult female kestrel (at the back) brought over this mouse and it was immediately snatched by a fledgling. The fledgling then took up a classic mantling pose to protect its prize both from the adult and its sibling. Just after this was taken it put the mouse between its feet to protect it completely. The nest box they are standing on is not the one they nested in but the adults used it to rest in when the day got too hot and the fledglings often waited on it between feeds. |
