Description

[Photo story / sequence - more pics will be uploaded shortly]

The Kestrel held the chick in this mouth and swallowed a part of the face and crushed it. (Here he is readying for the big swallow.) The chick finally lay silent. For the next 20-30 mins, the Kestrel consumed it. He ate a whole lot of feathers and flew away with the legs in the end.

The chick seemed to have only one set of feet on the left side. The second leg was a stump. Not sure if it was broken, but even my first shots after the Kestrel brought it up, the chick didn't have the second feet.

Is this the very rare Small Button Quail? Anyone can confirm?

Thanks in advance for your views / comments. Much Appreciated.
