Description
English: This photo shows a 6-year-old boy rode a camel to solicit tourists in front of Al-Khazneh in the ancient city of Petra, Jordan. KOHL is a mineral-extracted black powder, usually antimony sulfide or lead sulfide, used as a natural eyeliner in the Middle East since ancient times. Ancient Arabs applied it around their eyes, largely to keep their eyes clean and away from eye infections. Most importantly, KOHL protects the eyes from the heat of the desert.
