7. Oldtimertreffen am 07.07.2012 in Greußen/Thüringen. Der P70 war ein Kleinwagen, hergestellt vom IFA-Betrieb VEB Automobilwerk Zwickau (als AWZ P70 „Zwickau“), 1958 und 1959 kurz im vereinigten VEB Sachsenring Automobilwerke Zwickau (als Sachsenring P70). Er war ein Vorläufer des Trabant, an dem Erfahrungen mit Kunststoff-Karosserien und anderen Techniken gesammelt wurden. In den Jahren 1955 bis 1959 wurden 36.151 Fahrzeuge in den Bauformen Limousine, Coupé und Kombi produziert. P70 bedeutet Personenkraftwagen mit 700 cm³ Hubraum. Im Jahre 1955 wurde der P70 als Nachfolger des F8 vorgestellt, obwohl er mit dem nur das Fahrwerk gemeinsam hatte. Der P70 wurde mit einem Rahmen, einer mit Duroplastteilen beplankten Holzkarosserie sowie einem leicht veränderten F8-Motor ausgeliefert. Dieser Motor wurde im Gegensatz zum IFA F8 um 180 Grad gedreht eingebaut, sodass der Kühler in der Höhe versetzt hinter dem Motor lag. Die Leistung des Motors wurde um 2,5 PS auf 22 PS erhöht. Der wassergekühlte Motor verfügte über Zylinderdeckel aus Aluminium mit zentral angeordneter Zündkerze, was eine Leistungssteigerung um ca. 2,5 PS bewirkte. Die Kraftübertragung erfolgte ähnlich wie beim F8 über eine Mehrscheiben-Ölbadkupplung und ein unsynchronisiertes 3-Gang-Getriebe mit sperrbarem Freilauf auf die Vorderachse. Der Wagen verfügte außerdem über eine Dynastart-Anlage, also eine direkt auf der Motorwelle sitzende 12-V-Lichtmaschine, die auch als Anlasser fungierte. Die Karosserie war eine Neuheit: Sie bestand aus einem komplizierten Holzgestell, welches (bei Limousine und Kombi) mit neuartigen, mit hohem Aufwand speziell entwickelten Duroplastschalen beplankt war. Mit dieser konstruktiven Maßnahme konnte auf Stahlblech, welches in der DDR Mangelware war, verzichtet werden. The AWZ P70 "Zwickau" was a car made in East Germany by VEB Automobilwerke Zwickau (AWZ) between 1955 and 1958. After 1958 AWZ was united with the former Horch factory to the VEB Sachsenring Automobilwerke Zwickau and called Sachsenring P70. It succeeded the IFA F8 using the same 684 cc two cylinder, two-stroke engine but with a completely new glass fibre body. An estate version was introduced in 1956 followed by a coupé in 1957. It was replaced by the Trabant P50 in 1959 after about 36,000 had been made. The total output of AWZ P70 was 36,151 cars. |
