Description U.S. 5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (Oct. 20, 2014) - An AV-8B Harrier with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 163 (Reinforced), 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), lands on the flight deck aboard USS Makin Island, Oct. 20, 2014. The Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) and embarked 11th MEU provides a versatile sea-based, expeditionary force that can be tailored to a variety of missions in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
