Summary
[edit]DescriptionASFOUR at Lakyia No.015 (6443043949).jpg | Adi Gil, Gabi Asfour and Angela Donhauser, the members of multicultural U.S. based fashion designers collective known as Three ASFOUR visited three NGOs in the Bedouin village of Laqyia, located in the Negev desert in southern Israel: “Sidreh Laqyia Weaving”, “Desert Embroidery” and “Accessoir”. These NGOs empower local women though traditional crafts. The U.S. designers were amazed by the creativity and professionalism of the women, their strong commitment to the goal of promoting women’s rights in Bedouin society, and by their traditional warm hospitality. The designers also gave a presentation about their work, answered questions and explored ways of possible cooperation with Laqyia women. ThreeASFOUR’s latest collection “InSalaam InShallom”, which is based on the harmonious combination of Jewish and Arab visual sources, is currently on display in the Beit Ha’Ir Museum in Tel Aviv. The project is supported and facilitated by the U.S. Embassy Tel Aviv. |
