Summary
[edit]Papaleski is the prominent crater in the upper half of this photo. The lower left is filled by Mandel'shtam crater, with 'Mandel'shtam A' in the interior. This image of the far side of the Moon was taken during the Apollo 16 mapping metric sequence, revolution 25. The selenographic coordinates of this image are 8.90° N, 167.30° E.
This picture was produced by cropping the Hi-res image, rotating 90° counter-clockwise so that north is toward the top edge, then reducing it to 25% size.
