Apollo 16 Hasselblad image from film magazine 117/F - EVA-3. Pre-sampling photo of the area of rake Sample 60600 to 60679, collected adjacent to double drive tube 60014/60013, about 65 meters southwest of LM in vicinity of ALSEP site. This photo is used in Figure 4-36 of the Apollo 16 Preliminary Science Report (NASA SP-315), which has the following caption: The CDR prepares to take samples at station 10 near the end of EVA-3. The gnomon minus the central staff marks the area to be sampled. Sample bags are held in the CDR's left hand, the cuff-card checklist is on his left arm, and the Hasselblad camera is mounted on the remote control unit on his chest. The sample collection bag, which is attached to the primary life support system, is seen behind the CDR's left arm. The LRV, with only a partial right rear fender, stands in the background. Light penetrates the woven wire tires. The tool carrier, handtools, the penetrometer, and the magnetometer extend upward from the rear of the vehicle. The low-gain antenna, the map packet, and the motion picture camera occupy the center of the vehicle. The disk of the high-gain antenna and the TV camera protrude from the front of the vehicle. |
