Description 'The Mexican Navy hydrographic survey ship ARM Rio Tuxpan (BI-12) moored pierside on the Elizabeth River at w:Town Point Park in w:Norfolk, Virginia on the day she was transferred from the w:National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to the Mexican Navy and commissioned into Mexican Navy service as Mexico s first dedicated hydrographic survey ship. She had served in the w:United States Coast and Geodetic Survey fleet from 1963 to 1970 as USC&GS Whiting (CSS 29) and in the NOAA fleet from 1970 to 2003 as NOAAS Whiting (S 329).
