[edit]DescriptionAPC 10-outlet rackmount 19-inch PDU.jpg |
Example of an Uninterruptible Power Supply connected to a manufacturer-designed outlet expansion device known as a Power Distribution Unit, or PDU. This is a special high amperage power strip usually with a circuit breaker but without surge protection, designed for rackmount installation and connection to a suitably high-capacity UPS. In this image is a 10-outlet APC (American Power Conversion) PDU rated at 15 amps, mounted vertically on a server rack, and connected to an APC 2200 VA Smart-UPS (bottom unit shown to right). |
