Manfro was the name of the hill on which the fort at Pocquesoe was situated. From 1683 to 1717 it was the only Prussian fort in Ghana. In 1725 it fell to the Dutch West India Company (WIC) and was renamed Fort Hollandia. However, in view of the location indicated in the bottom image, between Cabo Cors and Mouree, it is likely that 'Manfroe' refers to the Danish fort of Frederiksborg near Cabo Cors. This was known as 'Koningsfort', as was the Prussian fort at Pocquesoe.
